H experts
Someone could give me some information about e-sourcing.
What is the diferences betwen e-soucing and SRM?
E-sourcing is an aplication abap or web dynpro?
Thanks
Nilson
Hi Neilson,
When you do the apple to apple comparison b/w SAP SRM and SAP E-Sourcing, you'll find the below
thanks Kamalakar for referring to the intro that sets base for this. Lets deal with this functionality by functionality
SAP SRM
1) Built on Webdynpro Java Platform, Webdynpro ABAP
SAP E-Sourcing
1) Works on Java stack
SAP SRM
2) Used by customers who have single or multiple SAP
SAP E-Sourcing
2) Only single backend integration available with the SAP E-Sourcng backends, multiple Backend integration is not possible with the 5.1 version
SAP SRM
3) Its an end to end procurement solution which menas that the demand, shopping carts can be created in SRM itself and
sourcing (RFx auctions ) can be managed in the same application
SAP E-Sourcing
3) This is only a sourcing application, it has to be integrated with the backend procurement system for demand, we cannot create
shopping carts here, we wither need to integrate it with SAP SRM for shopping cart or SAP R/3 for Purcahse requisitions
SAP SRM
4) Dutch/Forward auctions not possible
SAP E-Sourcing
4) Forward/Dutch auctions feature available
SAP SRM
5) Contract management capability limited to operational contracts, legal contract feature not available
SAP E-Sourcing
5) Legal Contract management with clause, section and templatesupport available, DUET based contract authoring available
SAP SRM
6) When integrated with SAP B/W can do spend analytics
SAP E-Sourcing
6) Ability to perform spend analytics when integrated with the operational procurement system
Mostly customers who are already on SAP SRM will not go for SAP E-Souricng, they will only choose xCLM, version 2.0 to handle the legal contract authoring part and also the Category management part, also note that SRM 7.0 comes in with the legal contract authoring part embed
For customers not on SAP SRM will opt for SAP e-Sourcing, as SAP E-sourcing was meant to be a stand alone best in breed sourcing solution.
Incase I remember anything more, will surely let you know, call me anytime after 8PM GMT, if you have specifics to discuss
Cheers

What is SAP E-Sourcing
SAP E-Sourcing (legacy SAP E-Sourcing E Sourcing ) is a product acquired by SAP along with their acquisition of SAP E-Sourcing commerce last year. This tool has functionalities of Sourcing, Contract Management, Category/Sourcing Project Management & Spend Management
This engine, at the first look, seems far more robust than current SRM bidding engine and LAC. While SAP has achieved preliminary integration with R/3 using flat files and CSV files to transfer master data from one system to other, there is a lot to be done on the integration ( SAP R/3 and EBP ) aspects and SAP does already have a plan in place, please see the next slide for the roadmap
The SAP E-Sourcing application helps customers attain bottom-line savings and accelerate time to benefit by cutting costs and encouraging user adoption. Together with the SAP SRM application, SAP E-Sourcing gives customers a complete sourcing-to-contract management process u2013 with several points of entry into the process, multiple delivery model options, and a seamless migration path to transform all purchasing functions.
Benefits include
Dutch auctions (Forward auctions), Auction enhancements
Event message board on the buy side and the sell side, for all sourcing documents
Ability to install & host the application on DB2 database platform
Customers will have an upgrade migration path from existing application lines
For non SAP customers SAP E-Sourcing will continue to be offered as a stand-alone application in addition to its deepening integration to SAP ERP and evolvement as part of SRM 7.0
With the acquisition of SAP E-Sourcing Commerce, SAP has a stronger footprint in the SRM space and with the release of SRM 7.0, SAP is looking at strengthening the functionalities that are currently unavailable in SRM 5.0 (Ex. processes such as spend analysis, collaborative project management, online bidding, contract negotiation, and contract management).
