Hi,
Basically Web AS is used for portal application.
In case of SRM MDM scenario or EP-MDM scenario Web AS is used.
In SRM MDM WebAS is a medium through which SRM can see the MDM data through portal.
For this u need to deploy connector files on WebAS.

Hi Ramu,
Web Application Server is a server which holds the Custom Portal (Web) Applications.
If you want to display your MDM data using Web Application then WAS is used. Here only your data is fetched from MDM and rendered or displayed to the User.
For Eg : If you have developed any custom application then that application needs to be deployed on the Web Application server so that it can be accessed using HTTP Protocol from a browser.
Hope this would be helpful!!!!!!!!!
If helpful do reward points!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ram,
Web AS i.e Web Application Server which is nothing but the portal server. In MDM it is used when Java APIs or Portal-MDM comes into picture because you need to deploy SCA(Software Component Archive) files on the WAS.
