GL Account Hierarchy

Former Member

Hi FICO Experts,

I have a requirement to transfer the GL Account information from SAP into SAS BI Solutions. For a specific requirement, SAS BI requires only GL Accounts which has got the consolidated balances for Example: Total Revenues, Total Assets, Total Expenses etc..

Could anyone please answer the following questions?

1.Is there any way to find such GL Accounts in SAP System?

I have looked into the basic GL Account tables SKA1, SKB1 but could not find

any such accounts which has a hierarchy.

2.Can we have a GL Account Hierarchy in SAP FI such as parent child

relationship?

3. Apart from the hierarchy maintained in the financial statement version, is there

any way we can retrieve Hierarchy of the GL Accounts in SAP System?

Please let me know if you need more information.

Earliest responses are highly appreciated.

Regards,

Raghu

Hi,

Hierarchy of G/L accounts is maintained via financial statement versions (OB58) or via special sets (GS01). Of course, this information is stored in SAP tables, ans SAS could access those tables to retrieve the hierarchy, though the logic could be quite complicated. Anyway, the tables for storage are SETNODE and SETLEAF.

Thanks Eli,

I am looking for a table where I can see Parent-Child relationship in GL Account Hierarchy?

Is the GL Account Hierarchy what we see in Balance Sheet and P&L statement built runtime?

Any thoughts are welcome.

Hi,

The tables I mentioned in my message (SETNODE/SETLEAF) are used for storing the hierarchy. The relevant class is 0109.

Thanks Eli,

I am not looking at the tables where I can find the Hierarchy defined in the Financial Statement Versions but I am looking at the table which has consolidated GL Account values like Total Revenue, Total Expenses etc..

As per my understanding, the totals are calculated runtime by the SAP program as per the hierarchy defined in the Financial Statement version and it is not stored in any GL account balances.

Please provide me more inputs and correct me if my understanding is not correct.

Indeed, the values are calculated on the base of hierarchy levels and stored separately. So, the extract for SAS should work on G/L balances due to hierarchy defined. Alternatively, the same hierarchy could be stored in SAS (built manually or updated from SAP).
