Unable to Open the Formula Editor to fix reports I had previously created

I have several reports that I have created and were able to edit without any issues today when I try to edit a formula I had created the formula editor will not open everything will just freeze. I go to task manager and it shows crystal X! is running but the editior will not open and i can't do anything in crystal after that I have to kill the process. THe only different between yesterday and today is yesterday I opened it at home and I have to vpn to the client site to get to the data source. Today I was on the clients site so no need to vpn to the data source. I am using the same laptop no matter where. I have also vpn from another location and i get the same behavior. PLEASE HELP I have a 24 million deadline to meet b firday and i cant fix my reports

    Morning Malvin,

Let me get this right, you said you are VPN to client side for datasource. Is Crystal Reports XI installed onto the client side? or is it on your laptop.

It almost seems like there is a problem with the software and not the source of your reports. I had the same issues with my reports once however, I took Crystal out and reinstalled it. Since then it is running fine.

I had another issue where I was making mistakes in my coding, specially in writing formulas.

Sometimes when there is a need of "AND" and we put in "OR" instead, the reports hangs for quite a long time before it can come back to life.

You might have either problem or maybe both. Try the methods I have provided and see if it works.

Good Luck and do keep us informed.

    Many thanks

    Kind Regards
