Crystal Reports XI and connecting to a MSQL .MDF database ?

Hello,

I am new to Crystal Reports and just fiished my training from New Horizons where we used a MS Access Database. I am now back at work and I am trying to use Crystal reports with a .MDF SQL Server Database.

Question: How do I connect to this type of Database ? use the Wizard ? New connetion ? there does not seem to be a .mdf in the list ??

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Robert,

You cannot connect Natively to and MDF file. You will need to connect via ODBC or OLE DB to MSSQL.

To create an ODBC connection go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > ODBC Administrator > System DSN Tab > Select Add > Browse to SQL Server and then configure the DSN with the connection properties such as server, user name, password, and default database.
