remove compounded object value from text variable

Hi experts,

In BI 7.0 I've defined a text variable for 0fiscyear which returns the fiscal variant along with the fiscal year, e.g. "K1/2008". How do I avoid displaying the superior compounded object text? I've tried adding a fiscal variant selection = k1 in the restricted key figure, the default value section, and in the characteristics restrictions section.

It must be something simple I've overlooked!
