Visual Composer Connecting to backend R3 4.7

I am trying to configure Visual Composer Connecting to Backend R3 which is on 4.7. While I have imported the certificate on R3 4.7 system and added ACL, I would like to know if ITS is mandatory for System definition in portal to connect to backend R3.

I have created R3 system (CIQ) as App server template in portal (CND) and gave the following info:

Application Host:

Authentication Ticket type: SAP Logon Ticket

Gateway Host: <servername>.domain

Gateway Port: 3300

Logical System name: as defined in SCC4 - CIQ900

Remote host type: 3

SAP client; 900

SAP System ID: CIQ

SAP System Number: 00

System Type : SAP_R3

WAS Hostname: <servername>.domain:8000

WAS Path: <=== Not given since ITS is not there

WAS protocal: http.

Is this sufficient? What information is required for Visual Composer to connect to backend R3 system?

Thanks and Regards,

Giridhara

    Hi,

If you want to use the R3 system to fetch BAPI's on to VC Storyboard, then configuring ITS details is not essential.

Can you state the exact issue you are facing? Are you unable to view the R3 System in the "Find Data" of VC?

    Regards,

    Jo

As informed in my earlier message, I got some indication that it may not require ITS but it might require Trusted RFC Connection from Bi system to SAP_R3 system. I have found a document on VC model inI am trying to use Find Data, selected the SAP_R3 Alias & "Look for Service by name" and search in VC models system gives me error in j2ee/cluster/server0/dev_jrfc.trc file. So I am currently trying to resolve the SSO for the client system to which SAP_R3 alias is configured. That system is not having minimum parameters to make itself as SSO Client to accept tickets.

      Hi Govindu,

These two links talk about Portal connecting to BI system (with alias SAP_BW) and not R3 system (with alias SAP_R3). I have come across that we need to have trusted RFC from VC System to R3 for this. I am currently working on that to see if it works (other than the system creation)

      Regards,

      Giridhara

    Dear Giridhara

With a backend based on 4.x system you can consume BAPI/BADI as data services in your Visual Composer model, that means you will be only able to consume it with RFC connections.

The trusted RFC is a ABAP to ABAP feature, when using Visual Composer you have to enable an RFC connection via JCO (Java Connector)

So, you don't need an Trusted RFC or a ITS connection to use your R/3 system as a backend and consume dataservices, the only thing you need is to configure the SAP System correctly and perhaps to create an RFC iView with the wizard in order to validate the connection and the data results.

All the recommendations given before are very valid!

    Best Regards,

    Luis
