SAP Cloud WEB IDE - Cloud Connector -Fiori ABAP scenario: is SNC RFC required?

Hello,

Our scenario is to deploy Fiori Apps from SAP Cloud WEB IDE into our On Premise Fiori Frontend 2.0 NW 7.5 SP6 (Hub Deployment).

Our architecture:
"SAP Cloud WEB IDE" -> On premise "Cloud Connector (Principal propagation)" -> "Fiori Gateway ABAP" (with Fiori Backend ECC & SRM)

Question: do we need to setup SNC RFC (like explained in SAP Cloud Connector documentation) or is HTTPS connection enough?

SAP Cloud Connector documention:
Configure Principal Propagation to an ABAP System for HTTPS
https://help.sap.com/viewer/cca91383641e40ffbe03bdc78f00f681/Cloud/en-US/a8bb87a72d094e0d981d2b1f67d...

Does Cloud Connector required HTTPS connection only or also a RFC Connection with SNC?
-For Fiori Frontend ABAP?
-For Fiori ECC and SRM backend?

In which such Fiori scenario do we need also to setup a SNC RFC connection?

Thank you
Best regards
Emmanuel

Hi,

I would like to clarify your scenario:
So are you going to use fiori apps? such as SRM FIORI, right?
If so, why do you want to use cloud connector? Please understand that I am expert for SRM product.
As I know, SRM fiori could run as on-premise.

Can I use the Cloud Connector without an ABAP back end?
Yes, you should be able to connect almost any system that supports the HTTP Protocol, to the SAP Cloud Platform, for example, Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, Microsoft IIS, or Nginx.

Dear Emmanuel,

However I am not a FIORI and SRM expert I deem based on your requirements HTTPS is enough for Cloud to on-premise SCP to ABAP Backend communication. But it is fully up to your business requirements. Additionally it is not an and-and but rahter an or-or scenario. For one connection you can use only either RFC or HTTPS configuration.
