Missing UoM ISO code in T006i

Hi Team,

Our Business wants to use the unit of measure Reel in SAP system. But, unfortunately the ISO code RL and corresponding UoM is missing in our system (Table T006i & T006). I can add the ISO code and create the UoM in system via transaction code CUNI. However, I wanted your inputs to understand the best way to handle this.

Is there any SAP notes to add these missing standard ISO codes and UoM's into the system? Please guid me.

Thanks

Krishna

Official ISO codes are made by the UNECE organization

Here is a search for "iso code unit" in their web site:

http://www.unece.org/unece/search?q=iso+code+unit+&op=Search

Among the results you can find an Excel list. In the Annex II tab you should find your unit.

SAP gave the most used units and ISO codes, anything what you need more have to be maintained manually. At some point in time you may even come into a situation that the unit does not exist the UNECE file and you need to invent your own ISO code

Hi Jurgen,

Thanks for the above inputs and it was helpful to start my analysis. Now, it is clear that Reel (RL) is a valid ISO code and I have started configuring new ISO code RL and new UoM RL in our SAP system.

I was able to create the ISO code and UoM without any issues (logged in EN). In order to update the descriptions in other languages (used by our customer), I logged in those respective languages and updated the UoM text.

Now, i noticed "Commercial" and "Technical"unit of measure codes for lot of standard UoM's are changed to a numeric (a running number series), UoM texts are wiped out and it has affected languages other than EN (where i logged in to update the UoM text for new UoM RL).

Below are the screenshots of the table T006A from Dev and Test system.

Commercial, Technical details and UoM texts are available in test system and the problem is currently in dev client where i have started to do the configuration and I am worried it can mess up the settings in test system if i move the transport request.

Can you please guide me on how to resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Kindly read OSS note 810264 - Numeric indicators for units of measurement

Also read OSS notes 451720 - Language supplementation program for units of measure

and 1992164 - Problems when translating units of measurement

Hi Jurgen, Thanks a lot for your quick response and I read through the SAP notes. In note 810264, they are referring to some inconsistency (multiple records or blank) during which the system creates these numeric indicators. Is there any option to see the inconsistency or logs of the past inconsistent situation in the system?

I do not know any report or log for this.

I would ask someone from the Basis team who is responsible to load languages into your system. Maybe they did a mistake and removed the language accidentally and reinstalled it and could not get the values back.

Ask them if they can help you to create a transport from your test system to the development system, otherwise you have to re-type anything manually in your development system.

If you think this is caused by a SAP bug then you have to open a ticket with SAP Support to get help.

Hello,

The units of measurement are customizing data, therefore you can create additional units.
There are no notes, which include new units.

If you create units, you can check the UNECE documents for the offical ISO codes - see note 69063.
