What components perform SQLScript optimizations on HANA?

I'm coping with SQLScritp processing on SAP HANA in quite some detail and as far as I know, there are several database request optimization instances. Even though I have done a lot of research so far, I'm still a bit confused about what components perform which optimizations. Particularly, most often when I've read papers, they always talk about "the optimizer" as if it was a dedicated component.

From what I understood, there is no such "optimizer" but certain components performing their own optimizations.

I would be very glad is someone could shed some light on the components and the data flow of SQLScript processing.

Say, I have implemented some SQLScript and want to deploy it as a stored procedure using "CREATE PROCEDURE". What are the steps and components involved in optimizing this procedure until it is eventually stored on the database? In particular, how do the Compiler and the Calculation Engine work together? And are there additional optimizations performed when the procedure is called?
