Material type number range

Hi friends ,

Please suggest me is it External 0r Internal number range which one is good material type as per SAP recomendation . If i need different interal number range , then i have maintain different group ......presently i have all material type under one group ....how can assign it to another group .

it depend on client requirement. for some clients if they have some nomenclature for materail number then external material number will be in use.

we can do configuration for number range material type by below path.

IMG->Logistics - General->Material Master->Basic Settings->Material Types->Define Number Ranges for Each Material Type

no range is decided by the client how he needs ,

dependecies for no ranges

1 org size

2 no of materials

3 use of material

etc.

so it is to be decided by u and ur client what they need

but many industries uses the external assignment so that they can give prefixes also

rewrad if useful

Hi

Internal number range is followed to Properly structure the materials according to material type. In Internal numberr range system gives the number & this is error free.

So advise to always use Internal number range.

But based on the business requirements we may require to use External Number ranges.

It is recommended to use SAP's Internal Number Range.

It is the only organisation's requirement or Business process who lead to take us in the direction of external assignment.

If you don't have specific reason then better to use Internal assignments.
