Create follow-up documents using actions

As an on-going process, the current set-up in CRMD_ORDER is that, a user can create the followup document of a transaction using the Actions tab by manually trigerring an Action which has been configured with appropriate values for the follow-up document. Now, if this was to be achieved programatically ( for the purpose of conversions ) can anyone suggest some Function Modules using which the Action can be triggered to create an appropriate follow-up document.
