Developmental class

Hi experts,

Can anyone explain What is a developmental class what are the uses,who creates it.

Please explain what would be the responsibilities of a BW Developer regarding Developmental Class.

One more thing sai, only the objects saved under package are transportable. By default SAP give $TMP is the temporary package. All the objects saved under local object are saved in $TMP and these objects are not transportable.

Development class is just like carrier that takes yr data from one system to another.

In simple terms this is best what i can tell you.

Hi Raj/Ramakrishna,

Initially while creating the characteristic or key figures itself i have to specify this developmental class or can be first created and later collected.

And How does this work for business content.Install the the business content and then we have to collect to the Development package.

The objects can first be assigned $TMP package which is by default and then later when you are doing transports, you need to change it appropriate package.

When you do transports you need to know which package (development class) you want your objects to belong. It is usually like Z_BW something.

This will be provided to you when by Basis.

Hi,

Development Class/Package is a group of Object ie., in simple it acts like an folder to save all the objects developed by some user or a single user. Suppose in a project 5 people are involved, all the objects developed by 5 users are stored in one package or development class. It is the administrators or Basis peoples work to create a package. In TCode SE22 we can create a package.
