Use specific email addresses for particular correspondence types in IS-U / FI-CA?


We are planning to introduce more flexibility for our customers by allowing them to provide us with specific email addresses for particular correspondence types in IS-U / FI-CA. We have been looking into various SAP standard solution for that e.g. by using the alternative correspondence recipients tab on the Contract Account but this solution didn’t allow us to point to a particular email address. Also, we were thinking of using address-independent email accounts of a business partner. This solution also didn’t allow us to assign a specific Correspondence Type (e.g., 0009 Cash Receipt) for a particular Contract Account to a specific email address. Instead of building a custom solution for that, we were wondering whether someone could point out an SAP standard solution which could be used to address that requirement?

    Although this is not a "rock-solid" approach (and we are aware of this), we've decided to do something similar using your Second suggestion.

    Namely, you would offer Customers the opportunity to 'divide' their E-mail Communication, let's say : DeviceReading E-mail1 / Billing E-mail2 / Newsletter E-mail3. These Opportunities are Raised upon any type of Contact (via ContactCenter or through E-Services or ...).

    These are quite 'General' categories, but we will register these on the Business Partner Communications via E-mail and 'Fixed Notes' (Trx. "BP"). The following (hypothetical) example illustrates the Idea best : a Professional Customer would like to receive different Communications through different Contacts for MeterReading / Billing / Newsletter etc. You could differentiate simply by using a Note for 'NEWS', 'BILL', and the like. (A Residential Customer can Opt-In or Opt-Out in the same fashion ofcourse.)

    Now, I do realize that this approach has it's flaws regarding Data-Quality (Use of the Correct Notes-ID) however we had little to no Issues with this. Also, if you would want to Separate at 'Contract Account', this approach might not be best.

    In the end, you Only need :

    • Clear instructions and / or well-Developed Services for Data-Entry (Update Communication E-mail with the Correct Notes-ID) ;
    • Some Reporting on the Bus.Comm.Services-tables to oversee consistencies (if any) ;
    • Some Customizing / Development when Generating your Correspondence (which needs to be done anyway) => Incorporate Generic Functionality to Fetch the correct E-mail based on its 'Category' ...

    Again, this might not be Ideal, but we went this route with very little issues and enabled some Separation of Communications for the Customer.

    customer preference management functionality is supported in hybris marketing. Or you could build your own solution or implement a 3P solution.
