ECC6.0-SCOT-FAX-Server FAX

Former Member

Hello!:

we are doing an upgrade from 46C to ECC 6.0, so we have to reconfigure the FAX.

In the Note 179013 - Faxing from SP01 with SAPconnect (3.1I to 4.6D) and other notes, say that we can't use the device type FAX with type FAX neither the sapcomm. we've to use the SCOT.

In the SCOT we have create a new entry FAX, but how can we create the RFC with the FAX Server?

Thanks in advanced.

Regards,

Alfredo.

Hi!

What type of entry did you create in SCOT ? If I understand you correctly you need an RFC connection to your fax server. You create this RFC connection in SM59 and then in SCOT -> View -> Nodes ..you need to create a node specifying addresses(* for all) and this is where you specify the RFC connection you should have already created.

See [here|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/2b/d925bf4b8a11d1894c0000e8323c4f/frameset.htm] for more information.

in the RFC i don't know how to indicate the FAX.

What FAX Server are you using, is this RightFax ?

As an example with Rightfax you need to specify the fax server in the "Program ID" field of "Technical Settings" in the RFC connection. So for example, your fax server is on host "faxserver" then under "Registered Server Program" in the "Program ID" field put "faxserver.sapgate". This same program ID must be specified on the fax server connector exactly the same ie it's case sensitive. Also, make sure the host faxserver resolves on the SAP system ie ping faxserver from your SAP system, it must reply otherwise add it in your hosts file.

Once you have added this info do a "Connection Test" ...if it's successful then save the RFC connection.

A quick google on WinFAX support with SAP gave me this:

I forget exactly when they cutoff

support for Winfax pro as a fax server, but I believe it was after 4.7

Enterprise. If you go to Symantec's page for Winfax pro for SAP it just

takes you to the Rightfax page now.

Rightfax can perform all the function below.

We do use Winfax10 before, after upgrade to 4.7 the DCOM does not support

anymore.

We have move to rightfax.

See [here|http://sap.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/sap-basis/winfax-pro-10-sapconnect-923571#]. Read the follow up at the bottom of the page.

Looks like bad news I'm afraid.
