NUMBER ASSIGNMENT PROBLE FOR MATERIAL

Hi guys,

For perticular ind sector and Materilas type while creating Materials number System gives error message as "Internal number assignment is not possible for the material type RAW MATERIAL" then if I assign some number externaly I am getting message as "No external number assignment possible for mat. type RAW MATERIAL" Please explain how to trouble shoot this problem step by step as I am new to SAP MM

Hi Dhana,

First Go to MMNR Material Master Number Ranges and check Whether your Material type is Assigned to any group. (Check in Not assigned Group Whether your Material type is there)

The problem mostly comes if you dont assign your material type to group in MMNR.

Also check whether the Number range is maintained External or Internal.

Hi dhana,

Go to MMNR and Press Ctrl F and type Not assigned It will show you the Not Assigned Group in that Check Whether your Material type is there. If its there, Look for other Number range groups other than Not assigned then Select your Material Type and Click on Element /group icon and save.

Steps

Identify your Material type in Not Assigned groups

Select Other Material Number assigned Group

Click on your Material type

And Click on Element/group and save.

Hi Ashok

When I am getting inside MMNR I am getting message saying "Number range is locked for maintenance" though no body else working on this.

Please guide.

Define Industry Sector (OMS3)

Define Output Format of Material (OMSL)

Define Material Group (OMSF)

Define Attributes of Material Type (OMS2)

Define Number Ranges for each Material Type (MMNR)

Maintain Material Hierarchy Level (CLW1)
