How write program in Archiving will check residence time, If we maintain it in ILM RULES only ?

Hi,

we have activated ILM and configured retention time for some objects and it's working fine.

We are evaluating usage of residence time but residence category is not available for most of our objects like fi_documnt,pp_ order, SD objects etc.

We tried to change the customizing for some objects via IRM_CUST to enable the objects for residence and created the residence rules but write program seem to check the application specific customizing and it does not pick the residence rules set . Is there any program changes required in addition apart from irm_cust to enable RST policy category so that ilm residence rules are checked ?

Thanks...

Hi Sudeep,

With ILM enabled archiving and pre-requisites met, residence checks and retention checks are performed.

The pre-requisites are;

1. ILM business function is active.

2. Archiving object is ILM enabled.

3. All ILM configurations are maintained - Object is assigned to Audit areas, ILM Rules are maintained, ILM Policy is Live.

Residence period is checked to add this record into archiving process. Later retention rule is applied to determine expiration date of the data.

Hi Sudeep!

As per my understanding the ILM works for some archving/ILM objects already.
Please search for SAP Notes/ KBAs with archiving object and ILM.

Example: check SAP Note 1792154 about FI_DOCUMNT and ILM.

Quote from this SAP Note: "

The ILM switch should be on and the archiving object FI_DOCUMNT should have actively been used in at least one audit area. (Only then the block "ILM actions" with the radio button "Data Destruction" appears on the selection screen of the archiving object's write report "FI_DOCUMNT_WRI".)"

Check also SAP Note 2508564.
