What is contained in Crystal Reports 2008 Fix Pack 1?

Crystal Reports 2008 Fix Pack 1 was published yesterday, according to the documentation this contains only 1 hotfix (a .dll that is 804KB on my current system), yet it is a 42.6MB download. Is this correct? Does this also contain CR2008 SP0 or do I need to download this seperately (after much searching spotted another post in a forum relating to SP0 that is still hosted on the BO website)? If Fix Pack 1 is truly only a hotfix with 1 minor change I'll wait until this is rolled into CR2008 SP1. So far not very impressed with the move to SAP!

Any developments with this? The documentation on the downloads page still suggests only 1 fix.

Hello Peter,

FixPacks are Hot Fixes, and not Service Packs.

Generally, FixPacks are named <Service Pack>.<Hot Fix>. For example, FixPack 3.2 means it's the second Hot Fix for Service Pack 3.

Since CR 2008 is on Service Pack 0, FixPack 1 you can interpret as FixPack 0.1 in the numbering scheme.

Note that CR 2008 and BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.0 share components, so even if FixPack 1 contains a single fix specific to CR, the shared components are updated.

Sincerely,

Ted Ueda

Hi Sean,

You mention Service Packs are cumulative. The CR2008 Fix Pack 1 is is listed as a hotfix, which traditionally only contain a fix for a specific problem and have not undergone much regression testing. Therefore is this a Service Pack or a hotfix?

Regards,

Peter.

Hello Peter,

Service Packs are cumulative, so that would explain the size. However, it does seem strange that we would publish a service pack with only one fix so I think it would be safe to think there may be an issue with the readme.
