BOM change validity

Hi

We wnat to changed a BOM (i.e. material 27601).

We will added 2 new lines with new components materials and validity dates. previously the component material of 27601 is 1111 in line 10 and 2222 in line 20 with valid from 01.01.2008 and valid to 31.12.9999.

this is what we want to achieve, we will want to add 2 new lines in this BOM line 30 with material 3333 and line 40 with material 4444 with valid from 01.08.2008 and valid to 31.12.9999. please guide me to do this, and how can i be assure that when 01.08.2008 this to new line will be the one to be use by this BOM? how to do it? please revert back.

Hi,

If you are not using ECM then

goto CS02 and enter material number 27601 with valid from 01.08.2008 (no need change number)

then you can add 2 new lines in this BOM line 30 with material 3333 and line 40 with material 4444

Hello,

Ok using CS02, and by adding the two new material component for 2671 line 30 and 40, how can we now be sure that starting from 01.08.2008, the good BOM will be taken (item 30 & 40) and not item (10 & 20)? what step next for this?

And also am new with ECM how can i use this to resolve this issue?

Hello John,

For eg. You create a change request ( change no.) For this change number you need to define effective date (10.11.2008) and validity date(31.12.9999). Now if you make changes to BOM using this change no. should be valid for 10.11.2008 only. i.e. if you add a component in BOM that component should be displayed in production order which you create on 10.11.2008.

Create a Change note number using CC01 define your dates as per your requriment. Then use this no in BOM, CS02, system will act according to date of change no.

Hi,

Selecting a particular set of components from the list of BOM components is not possible

( possible only in Variant Configuration - Super BOM)

For this you can go for Alternative BOM.ie, you can create alternative BOM 2 with the components 3 and 4.

Then , either by lotsize (which differs from Alt BOM 1 ) or validity date , you can select this Alt BOM 2.

Hi John,

If you any other valid form date for the components you have to create through ECN.

For engineering change management to be activated you need to define inmodification parameters that ECM is to be active.
