Hi All,

We have installed S4 HANA 1709. We are noticing locks (X) on table FDC_TIMERDAEMON_LOCK table under user DDIC. These locks are not getting cleared automatically and is available in each client in the system.

What are these locks? How and why are these created and can these be deleted?

Please advise.

Thank You!

Hello, David.

Thank you for the reply.

We are seeing locks older than 2 weeks in SM12. Is it common to have FDC_TIMERDAEMON_LOCK table locks in the system?

Is there a need to delete these locks or can these be ignored?

Thank You!

Hello,

The daemon is running permanently in the system as soon as it is started. SAP use here AUTOABAP for this process. Therefore you will have there a permanent lock on FDC_TIMERDAEMON_LOCK and this is correct. The additional hourly scheduled background job is there to check if the daemon is still running or not. This is also described in note 2110680.

David

Hello,

The lock is part of the running FDC_START_TIMERDAEMON - it is implemented as a daemon running in the background - most of the time just 'sleeping'.

So seeing the lock in SM12 means, that the clean up process is running in the background.

David
