Good day Experts,
Please assist with Oracle 12c related questions.
Operating system: SLES 11 SP4
SAP NW : 7.5
1. During installation - how can the Oracle log related files be installed on another drive (example :/logs ) as compared to its default installation path?
2. Can the number and log size of each file be set during installation?
3. Is the RMAN backup with archivelogs sufficient for a restore in case of an emergency?
4. During a system export->import to a different server: can the RMAN backup and restore/recover procedure be used for the Oracle database?
5. Does a database need to be installed first (for point 4)?
Thanks in advance.
Appreciate it.
Regards B
Thanks James

Hi,
1. During installation - how can the Oracle log related files be installed on another drive (example :/logs ) as compared to its default installation path?
2. Can the number and log size of each file be set during installation?
=> I think you can do 1, 2 with customized option in SUM.
3. Is the RMAN backup with archivelogs sufficient for a restore in case of an emergency?
=>Please have a test whether you can do a complete restore, recovery with this option, because "RMAN backup with archivelogs" looks a big topic.
4. During a system export->import to a different server: can the RMAN backup and restore/recover procedure be used for the Oracle database?
=> yes, please refer to system copy guide, you can do your own way to do restore
5. Does a database need to be installed first (for point 4)?
=> No need, you can install database during import, like fresh installation
Best regards,
James
