Dear Gurus,
I have a requirement where i have a i have a SFG with 2 components in the BOM also SFG. All items are externally procured. Scenario is Make to stock. My requirement is such that when i run MRP i want purchase req to be generated for header material. But when GR is done i want stocks at component level to be updated. This is because i am also issuing the components individually. Is this scenario possible..?
Kindly help,
Thanks,
Anand Deshmukh.
Hi Anand,
What i have understood from your explaination is that the header material is a subcontracted material made from vendor and you are giving the components to the vendor to make the header material.
If this understanding is correct, then kindly use subcontracting key (30) in the material master, mrp 2 view (special procurement field) the PR will be created for the header material and when GR for the header material is done the components will get issued.
I hope this should help you, if your understanding differs from mine than please clarify.
Thanks & Regards.

dear Guru,
actually you have misunderstood my requirement, the header material is a seal kit..(say pack). And the components are a number of different seals in the kit. Stocks are to be maintained at component level as we are issuing the individuaql seals as and when required but when we are procuring the material we want to generate pr at header material level since we want to purchase the entire kit. Hence my requirement is that when the GR of the header material is done thro pr, the stocks of the components also is updated.
kindly revert if any further clarifications are required.
Thanks,
Anand.
There are two solns for this
1) Maintain header material and its component as variable size item(item category).
2)Maintain header material as phantom assembly.

Interesting one,
In case your both components are of same property then one tricky way we can do.
1. Run the MRP for header part and made a UNIT conversion set in Mat Master say 1 header = total count of componetes
2. then do 309 materail to material transfer for the 1st & 2nd companet separately.
simulate this may if help but actually the rule of BOM is getting voliating by your current setup with this materail.

Hi Anand,
Your Requirement is logical but there are some issues regarding Stock and Accounting also (If your are doing stock Transfer)
1) First of all you want that During the GR of semi finished goods, stock of Component should also updated, but my dear freind in this way you may got wrong stock report.
For example
If your doing GR of 1 Kit then you may report something like,
1 kit - Which also contains 1 Nos of Comp X
1 Nos - Compo X.
Total 2 Nos. But actually there is only 1.
2) Now if you are doing stock transfer from Kit to Component then there also some issues,
- If you are transferring the stock from Kit to component then ultimately it may decrease the stock value, because you are going to transferring the material stock from higher value material (Kit) to low level (Component seal).
- You can only transfer material stock as 1 : 1 means, 1 sander material and 1 receiving material. So question is what about other component?
So my suggestion is wait for other experts.

Dhaval
