Dear friends
Please try the possibilites of using infotype 0032(internal Data), where you can store the alphanumeric number ranges, but you have to maintain it manually.

Hi
Though this is possible by using diffrent number ranges. I suggest you set in motion a Organisational Change Management Process for your client.
I have faced many such clients but was able to explain to them that there is no advantage by having this kind of complex numbering so they went for numeric numbers recommended by SAP. You can take help of SAP recommendations and experiences shared by other companies to put forward your point.

Hi Tejas,
Personnel number is not a character field but a number field, so you cannot add any chars inside it. I advise you to add a field to IT0002 through PM01 (IT maintenance) & make it filled through user exit (PBAS0001 - ZXPADU2) when the person is hired (by checking the name of the employee).
