How to upgrade Ariba Network Adapter from CI3 to CI9 for SAP Ariba integration scenarios

Hello all,

I am in process of upgrading my Ariba Network adapter CI3 to CI9 as per Ariba security requirement. In the communication received from Ariba, we have to change the URLs and certificates as well in SAP PI.

Since I am new to Ariba SAP PI integration, request you all to kindly guide on how to achieve the same step by step. Also, what all dependencies do I have from the functional front.

Your help is highly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,

Somesh Mohan

    hello Somesh,

1)Download the upgrade installation package from Connect.ariba.com ,whatever version you want to upgrade to -CI8, CI9 etc. They are available in full and upgrade release , Download the upgrade one since you are doing an upgarde.

    2) Installation package will have : Transports for ECC, CI Adapter upgrade for SAP PI, SAP PI TPZ file for mappings and adapter meta data.

    3) After importing above components in ECC and PI and CI adapter upgrade , re-select the new mappings and adapter in your SAP PI Configuration.

    4) On PI channel connectivity part -two gateways/URL of ariba network are available service.ariba.com and service-2.ariba.com. I assume you must be using service.ariba.com presently. In case you want to change to service-2.ariba.com ensure to install server certificate for this url. Both the url connects to ariba network, recommendation is to go for service-2.ariba.com as they are new gateways for ariba and support for the old gateways will end soon. In case you want to continue with service.ariba.com no change of certificate is required.

After you do above configure do a round of test for your interfaces and you are good to go.

You can always download the upgrade guide from connect.ariba.com to give you all the steps in a very detailed manner.

    Good Luck.

    Regards

    Sikander

      Hi Sikander,

Thank you for your valuable response. It helped.I have imported the components in ECC and PI and I can view the new SWC's associated to CI9 adapter. I have few doubts which i faced during the process.

      1) In most of the interfaces, SOAP receiver/sender channels are being used and not Ariba Network adapter. Only the standard content for Ariba from ESR is being used. For these interfaces, do I need to make any changes in the communication channel ?

      2) For the Ariba Network Adapter sender/receiver in communication channel, apart from the getServiceURL and cXML version, do I need to make any changes to the existing configuration. Please refer attached screenshot.ariba-quality.jpg

      3) After installing server certificate, how can we make our integration traffic TLS 1.1/1.2 compliant ?

Kindly help with your valuable suggestions.

      Thanks and regards,

      Somesh
