CATS Interface

519 Views

Hi All,

We use Kronos Time management system for tracking and processing hourly employee's timings. Now we want to switch to SAP for Time Management, but still keep the kronos clock for recording employee punchings(Clock in's and Clock out's). Since the time approval procedure is mandatory, we plan to bring the kronos punches to CATS, (rather than directly sending them to HR-Time management) get them approved by the manager and then transfer the approved timings to HR-Time management.

For this, we configured a CATS Data entry pofile which allows to enter clock times in CATS. It works fine i.e when the 'from' and 'to' fields are filled with clock in and clock out, the system calculates the duration and displays it right next to these fields--- but the problem is when you miss one of these fields, CATS fills it according to the Work schedule of the employee in question.

Example:

An employee X has a work shcedule of 40.0 hours a week with daily planned working hours starting from 8:30 to 17:30 and one hour unpaid break.Now in the CATS for this employee

From= 8:47 and To = left blank

when the save button is clicked the CATS fills the "To" field with 17:30 and calculates the duration as 7.72, since as per his work schedule he is supposed to work until 17:30.

In our company there is every chance that the employees might forget to punch the card in the clock some days. So, if this employee X Clocks in at 8:30 and leaves the office at 14:00, but forgets to clock out, the system will calculate as 8 hours regular time for that particular day and if this is over looked by manager ( high chance of overlooking) then this employee will be paid for his non working hours, which obviously is not Good.

I don't understand why CATS was programmed in this way (+i.e filling the missing time entries, instead of letting the time keepers or time supervisors do it manually+), because as you can see from above example it is dangerous. Is there a workaround or a solution for this issue.

Thanks,

Rahul.
