Conversion Tool in batch mode

During a migration project from BO 6.5 to BO XI r2 SP3, the process of conversion to WID is decomposed in many steps (due project reason)

In folder <install dir>\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\win32_x86\scripts there is a batch file called migbatch.bat.

With this file is possible to call conversion tool in batch mode.

One parameter is a XML file, but I can't found a description how to build it. I think it contains REP list.

Do anyone know the XML structure?

I believe that bat file is used by our import wizard. There isn't currently a script way of migrating from 6.5 to XIR2 that I know of. You should use the import wizard to migrate from 6.5 to XIR2

    Hi,

I said that the process of conversion is decomposed in many steps.

First move 6.5 REP to XIr2 REP, second convert XIr2 REP to XIr2 WID. This second step is decomposition in many substeps with about 200/300 reports (we have many thousands).

So there is no conversion from 6.5 REP to XIr2 WID. I wished this point was clear.

Due high volume of REP, we want to use a batch procedure. If you run in CMD windows the migbatch.bat followed by parameters, it logon to XI system and generate error because I can't create correct XML file.

The command line work in DOS shell (except error on XML file)

I'm sorry but I can't agree with you about possibility to launch this as command line. Because if a program launch it with parameters, I can launch it with parameters using command string. It's a batch file editable with notepad.

    Thank for your information

    Hi,

I made many tests and I solve my problem. The batch returned errors every run but the conversion was made (I can find WID report published on Infoview).

Now I try to create automatically the XML file for a full batch.

    Thanks for your tips.
