Business Partner could not be linked to Vendor using FLBPC2

I am trying to link an existing Business Partner to an existing Vendor using FLBPC2 but keep getting the error message "Business Partner could not be linked to Vendor".

I have performed all the synchronization & number range & grouping configuration I am aware of. When creating a BP with the FLVN00 role, it automatically creates a Vendor, so the linkage works, however I want to link it to an existing Vendor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
