Activation affects users with the following versions:

Crystal Xcelsius 4.5,

Xcelsius 4.0 (Enterprise XE, XL Professional, XL Standard),

Xcelsius 3.5,

Xcelsius 3.0

Activation issues that can be resolved:

-Re-installing Crystal Xcelsius 4.5, 4.0, 3.5 or 3.0

-New installation of Crystal Xcelsius 4.5, 4.0, 3.5 or 3.0

-Existing users of Crystal Xcelsius 4.5, 4.0, 3.5 or 3.0 being prompted to activate

-Transferring Crystal Xcelsius 4.5, 4.0, 3.5 or 3.0 to a new computer/user

Activation does NOT affect the following:

-Crystal Xcelsius 4.5 users upgrading to 2008

-New installation of 2008

-Installation of trial/demo of 2008

IF YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO UPGRADE, DOWNLOAD OR INSTALL ENGAGE / 2008, PLEASE POST TO THE MAIN XCELSIUS FORUM.

Xcelsius 2008 does not use the activation process, therefore upgrades, new installations and trials of Xcelcius 2008 are not affected by activation issues.

I need to reinstall Crystal Excelsius 4.5. It got corrupted or something and says I need to reinstall with Flash 7.0 or higher. It was fine yesterday... My old links/phone numbers are no longer valid. I use this every day in my work and need this up and running as soon as possible. Thank you.

Hi Andrea,

If you haven't uninstalled CX 4.5 yet, you may want to try this first:

Manual uninstall/reinstall of the flash player:

You can use the following link to uninstall Flash Player from your computer:

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe

After uninstalling flash, use Internet Explorer to install Flash Player. You can use the following link to install Flash:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

If you have already uninstalled, when you re-install you may get the same Flash error message; and may be asked to activate your software. I will send you an email to see if you need assistance with activation.

I'm trying to install Xcelsius 4.5 on a new computer and getting "invalid serial number" message.

Hi JB,

Assuming you are trying to install an Xcelsius product other than Xcelsius 2008, the most likely cause of an invalid serial number is typographical error. Please follow the below, this will apply to most 4.0 and 4.5:

Capital X

Lower case C

Lower case L

Number 4

Capital (E, P or S)

Lower case (N, R or T)

Lower case (T, letter O or D)

Number zero

Number zero

Number 1

Also, make sure you are installing the correct serial number with the correct release and version of the software. You cannot use a Professional (Xcl4Pro) serial number to install Designer or Standard software, or vice versa.

The following are serial number prefixes for releases 4.0 and 4.5:

Standard (Xcl4Std)

Professional (Xcl4Pro)

Designer/Enterprise/Workgroup (Xcl4Ent)

I am trying to load Xcelsius 4.5 Pro onto a new computer. It is running on Windows Vista Home Basic. I have loaded the application and when I click on the icon to start up the application, it return the following information in a window: Crystal Xcelsius installation is incomplete. Application cannot run. Please reinstall Crystal Xcelsius.

I have reloaded it many, many times. I am sure that it also has something to do with the activation. Please advise to help me resolve this problem.

Hi Tammy, this is not an Xcelsius activation issue but most likely a Vista installation issue. You will probably need to have your activation count increased once you successfully install. For Vista installation, please try the following:

Right click on the installation program go to compatibility select "Run this program for .... Win XP "

Select "Run this program as an administrator"

Restart your computer, go the installation folder locate xcelsius.exe and do the same.

You also need to have the UAC setting disabled.
