Perpetual Inventory and revaluation: How to deal with destocking?

using Perpetual Inventory we face a problem with Inventory Revaluation:

There are always items, that had a strong decrease of quantity after closing date.

For those with a devaluation amount smaller than current inventory value it works out with a revaluation 'Inventory Debit/Credit' on closing date, followed by a 'Price Change' on current date for correction purposes.

But this transaction is denied, if devaluation amount is above current inventory value. Error message says it would lead to a negative inventory value. Enabling Negative Inventory does not help.

Out of my sight this shoud be a common problem. Does anyone know how to deal with it?

Thanks in advance!
