Dear all,

We have an SAP HANA Instance running on Cloud Foundry (Frankfurt data center), and we can't manage to add this system in SAP HANA Studio.

I would really appreciate any hint on this.

Best Regards.

Hi Francesc,

Hana in the context of CF if known as HDI Container and its development efferent from XSC as it uses Microservices as basis for all things you do. Therefore, you may be required to access Web IDE for HANA development tasks rather then Eclipse/Hana Studio. Please refer to the OpenSap course on XSA. If you intend on fully using the new capabilities os XSA and HANA 2.0 I suggest you deploy HANA Express (which is a local installation of HANA) on your local infrastructure, develop the MTAR file there, perform local tests and once it is ready for production, deploy it to the cloud foundry using cf cli command line. You could even automate everything using SAP and open sourced solutions for CI.

If you do not wish to automate everything or you landscape doesn't allow you to deploy HANA Express, you could still use the Full Stack Web IDE (aka: WebIDE Multi-Cloud version) available on SCP to develop all database artifacts and deploy directly from there. Please check the following blogs: developring for the trial SCP; develop a simple book store application.

However, if have existing existing XSC developments or you want to leverage existing knowledge and skills you could establish a database tunnel from your local infrastructure to the CF landscape and connect using Hana Studio. There is an excellent documentation regarding this. Please keep in mind that this will be limited to db artifacts and programming languages the same as in a NEO environment - the same as any XS-Classic development.

Thanks Ivan,

Really good explanation on how Cloud Foundry is different from the NEO environment. Now everything makes sense.

I really appreciate your help.

Best Regards.
