Steps for ESS MSS installation,Configuration

Hi all,

I am having an experience of six months in sap ep(enterprise portal)

and web dynpro for java.

In the next month iam required to install ess and mss buisness package completly from start.

I have an basic knowledge of ess mss which i got by reading material from sdn library.

Can any one help me with the steps required for the installation ,configuration and customization of ess mss package.Also

I need an information about installation ,configuration and customization of various webdynpro application in ess mss package

Please help me with the steps,it is very urgent.

Hi

In general if you do the below configurations your ESS/MSS

will be done..

u2022SSO (Single Sign On) Configuration

u2022SLD (System Landscape Directory) Configuration (creating Technical system)

u2022Importing & Deploying ESS and MSS Business Packages

The sca's req are SAP_ESS10,SAP MSS10, SAP_PCUIGP10

u2022Maintaining JCou2019s (Java Connectors)

u2022Portal Content Configuration

u2022Creating a Role Assigning to User in ECC

u2022Assign an Employee to User (T.code: PA30)

u2022Creating User in Portal

u2022Customizing ESS Homepage Framework

IF YOU NEED CUSTOMIZATION TO STANDARED ESS/MSS PROVIDED BY SAP.. YOU CAN DO IT USING NWDI AND NWDS.

Thanks for your reply.

As you told that customization can be done by using NWDI /NWDS .

I have worked with NWDS,but only know the basics of nwdi.

I need a help regarding How to use a NWDI for ess customization .

I have one question that used of transaction spro for customization is done by ep consultant or by HR consultant?

Hi,

Customization done by EP or may be Webdynpro Consultant

not HR Consultant...

Hi the SPRO customiztion is done by the Portal developer not the HR functional

Usualy if you want to customize the standard screen in ESS. MSS then you can opt for NWDI but if you are on the latest EP stack i.e myERP2005 then small modifications like chage in label text, hiding the button, edit text etc can be done w/o nwdi.

For anyother major changes in the application we can address case to case, feel free to query any time

many times the changes are so tedious that we opt to create a full custom application as weel

and replace it with standard.
