Assignment of characteristic values in Material Master for Class Type 023

Hi Team,

In which scenario we'll assign characteristic values in material master - classification view for class type '023'.

Why we need to assign characteristic value in material master ? As per my understanding characteristic value changes from batch to batch. So what is the use of maitaining these values in material master.

characteristic values changes from batch to batch - Don't maintain CV's in MMR

CV's for few batches changes among all other batches - May or May not be maintained in MMR (if maintained in MMR and CV is different at the time of GR, no issues it is editable at GR)

CV's for all the batches remain common - Maintain in MMR (saves time & effort during GR since default values in MMR is copied to GR batch classification)

A value entered in material master classification is copied over to the batch classification and is this way a default
