Hello dear experts,

I have one cost center which has planned cost from January to December 2018.

I tried to change profit center for this cost center since March 1st, 2018, but system shows message FAGL_ORG_UNITS: "Changing profit center from 1 to 2 is not permitted".

The cost center has only planned data for march 1st, no actual cost were posted for this date and so on..

I know i can customize the message as warning but i not sure if doing this with planned data posted could cause some inconsistencies with financials.

Please, kndly give advice about this issue.

Thank you very much.

Regards,

Fernando

Hi

Check whether cost center is having balances? System will not allow to change master data.

Balance could be either planned or actual costs.

Procedure - Move the planned cost balance to different cost center, ensure balance is Zero and then change master data.

Hi

Thank you for your answer. Here is a screenshot of report S_ALR_87013611 for period 3/2018, as you can see balance is not zero. I thought that changing planned data in KP06 for the cost center to zero, then balance would be zero, so i can change profit center. Please tell me if i'm wrong.

If i move planned cost balance to another cost center, what would be the next step to return this planned cost balance to the original cost center with the profit center changed?.

Hi

Your decision of making balance in KP06 for the cost center to zero is also correct and applicable in this case. However the planned cost is already booked under cost center, hence you can do the cost center re-posting by moving this value to dummy cost center and after changing master data do the reverse re-posting entry. This will give clear picture for audit purposes too.

You can use transactions KB61 and KB64

Hi,

Thank you for the info. I have tried making balance zero in KP06, then change the master data but the same error appeared.

Now, using transaction KB61 needs a financial document as input but in this case there is no financial entry, so i think this will not work.because for period 3/2018 there are no actual costs for cost center.

Can you give detail of error message appeared in KP06?

Hi, error was not in KP06. It was in KS02.

I opened an OSS message to SAP and they said there will be no problem if i set message FAGL_ORG_UNITS011 as warning if there is only planned data for new period.

you may also change master data of cost center (Change in Profit center) by adding a new analysis period in it.

That was my first try, but there was no success. This was beacuse of the existing of planned cost in KP06 for the cost center.

This can be changed by turning into warning massage. but system error is logical

you have plan cost for profit center 1 in future period, but actual cost will be in profit center 2, which definitely will cause financial inconsistencies and disaster your PLAN vs. Actual profit center reporting.

if you want to avoid it than transfer cost planning before master data change

or turn this error massage into warning keeping in mind your business requirement.
