Licensing - Using SAP Gateway to source data from SAP

Hi. We are building a customer on-boarding process and the on-boarding process will include pulling some reference data from SAP. We are using IBM's Process Server (PS) to build the workflow (process orchestration).

We were thinking of exposing the reference data though SAP Gateway and availing the data for use by PS (which can consume oData REST APIs exposed by SAP Gateway)

I am trying to understand the licensing implications - can we use a system user to pull the data or does every user involved in the on-boarding process have to have a SAP license even though their usage ultimately amounts to pulling in reference data to assure data validity in the onboarding process?

Appreciate some insight on this!

Hi Bernard,

whether you use a technical user or multiple users is just a technical question. The question is whether the access as such requires a license.

There are for example new options when it comes to licensing but as mentioned in the text not all scenarios are covered yet.

I suggest to discuss this with your account executive.

Best Regards,
