Hi,
We want to change a material based Unit of measure from PC to EA, but the material has an open PO.
1. We delete the PO item first with tcode ME22N then change the Material master (tcode MM02), change the based uom from PC to EA. done.
2. Then go back to UNDELETE the PO item (ME22N), the following error message is displayed "Deletion indicator cannot be unset".
How to resolve this error, we need to undelete the PO item after the material's has been changed.?? Urgent.
Hi
The Deletion cannot be unset as the in the PO , the Material has different UOM when compared to the UOM in the PO.
So either you can create anew line item in the PO.
or maintain the UOM which is in the PO in the Material master additional data & maintain the units of conversion. Flag the Variable order unit allowed in the Purcahsing View of the material master.
No go into the PO & remove the deletion flag & change the UOM if possible.
Thanks & Regards
Kishore

Hi,
Even if he maintains alternative unit of measue in material master, he cannot redelete the PO item, I've checked the same.
I think this issue is very similar to the cases when someone changes from normal to split valuation > PO item cannot be undeleted.
I don't know the exact reason - maybe there would be inconsistency between old and new master data.
So, Eric I think you'd better create a new PO item as it was suggested.

Issue > In ME22N/ME32k when you want to undelete an item that has already been set as deleted. When you try to edit the item by selecting 'Reset Deletion Ind.', the error ME660' Deletion indicator cannot be reset' is raised.
Reason > The material valuation category was changed in the material master.
Resolution >This is standard system behavior, the item cannot be undeleted.
Please create a new item for your business requirement in the PO/contract.

Hello Rahul,
Thanks for your interest to contribute and make/help the community to be better place to engage and collaborate. But, you are currently opening questions that are older than 2 years. If you think you understand the root cause or the standard behviour of the issue. Instead of open older question or thread, I would request you to write a blog and share your experience or journey of that root cause analysis with the community.

Hi,
Why you want to change in same po. You can create another New PO for this.
Else change the Message no ME660 from Error to warning.

hi,
The PO item already good receipt and inoive receipt done, so I cannot create a new PO item for it.
I have try set the message ME660 and ME551 to warning or no message, also the same problem. The error ME551 "Deletion indicator cannot be unset" still displayed when I UNDELETE the PO item.
So any more solution for this??
Hi,
The reason we need to use the UNDELETE PO function and cannot create new item method is because the material is in many po, some GR already, some Invocie receipt already, some Not yet GR, and use in many companies and countries.
POs already send out to vendor.
We will be in trouble if no solution for this and need to create new PO line item!!?? So GURU please help...
Hi,
Please understand that it seems you cannot undelete the related PO items.
1. Whether you reset the BUoM and undelete the POs and use the mmr with original BUoM or create a new material master with desired BUoM.
2. You keep the mmr with new BUoM and with the delted PO items. As I know you can delete a PO item if GR/IR balance is OK for it so I think it shouldn't be problem.
As for partially delivered PO items > you can reduce the qty (resetting the BUoM and after that delete them) and create new PO items with the new BUoM.
That's all I think.

Hi
In the first instance , you should not have changed the UOM , if partial GR & partial invoicing is pending for the material master.
How will the system handle the Invoice variances in such cases.
Please first close the issue & continue with your Old UOM of PC instead of going to the new one.
Once you are certain that such iussues will not come then cahnge the UOM.
Thanks & Regards
Kishore
Hi Eric,
Sorry...mmr means material master record...
1. Reset the BUoM from the new one to the old one
1a) undelete the POs
1b) use the mmr with original BUoM (that was reset in 1a) )
or (reset the BUoM and undelete the POs and) create a new material master with desired BUoM and use this (instead of the original material master with new BUoM if the deleted POs are not OK for you).
2. Keep the mmr with new BUoM with the delted PO items. As I know you can delete a PO item if GR/IR balance is OK for it so I think it shouldn't be problem.
2a) If you want to get rid of partially delivered PO items >
2a1) reste the BUoM from new one to the original
2a2) undelete the partially delivered POs
2a3) reduce the qty of these PO items to achieve that the should completely delivered and after that delete them
2a4) set the new BUoM for your mmr
2a5) create new PO items instead of the before reduced PO items with proper qty (with the mmr that has the new BUoM).
