Hi Experts,

When Main asset transferred as a sub asset to another main asset - Depreciation start date need to delete or shall I keep as it is in the asset master when creating sub assets?

Eg: Parent Assets X,Y and Z need to transfer as a child assets of A. A depreciation start date is 01.01.2017 and when I create sub assets under A to transfer XYZ do I need to delete depreciation start date there to effect this from this month. If I do so useful life of the asset will get increase. As working on production presently we are deleting depreciation start date but with this we got issues.

Kindly advise the impact.

Best Regards,

Hi Soma,

The following customizing points are important:

1. SAP Note 327088

In this note it is specified how the depreciation variants and the transaction types should be defined.

2. Specify Transfer of Fields

-> Transactions

-> Intercompany Asset Transfers

-> Automatic Intercompany Asset Transfers

-> Define Transfer Variants

-> Specify Transfer of Fields

Example: 03 Ord.dep.start date

Meaning: Set this indicator, if you want the system to copy the field contents of fields in the corresponding field group from the asset being retired to the new asset during intercompany asset transfer.

3. Transaction type indicator: Transfer adopting dep. start date

Set this indicator, if you want to adopt the historical depreciation start date and capitalization date from the retiring asset.

4. Period control of the depreciation key

General rule:
Normal acquisition: the depreciation start date is relevant.
Transfer: the asset value date and the period control is relevant for the receiving asset.

Transfer + daily depreciation: period control is not relevant.

best regards Bernhard
