Hi,
We are using BI documents/comments heavily in our web reporting and are suffering from poor query performance. One query could run for several minutes with BI document icons on while without that the result will pop up within 30 seconds.
So how can I improve the query performance, for we really need to use BI documents?
I heard that TREX can help here, but simply couldn't find any documents about that.
Please help.
Regards,
Shady Shen
Shen,
TREX will improves the DB reading by 200 times but the OLAP improvement is less than or equal to 8times the performance so In this case I think BIA will not gives expected results.

Hi RK,
Thanks for your reply. Are you referring to BIA?
I'm afraid it is not relevant here. I think by TREX, it is still the traditional search and classical engine. I had thought by indexing all the BI documents for infoproviders, the display of document icon could be faster somehow. But I am not sure whether and how it works.
I checked with the BI statistics. Most of time is spent on event 13300 (read BI document) and DB time can be omitted due to the small data volume. So BIA won't help here, I guess.
Any idea how I reduce the time spent in event 13300? Please advice.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Shady

Hi Shen,
You can try with web Template. It will improve the query performance.

Thanks for your reply.
But could you be more specific about how TREX can help in our BI document scenario?

Hi,
Search and Classification (TREX) is the backend technology that powers SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Search and most other search functionalities in SAP products and solutions. It provides SAP applications with numerous services for searching, classifying, and text-mining in large collections of documents (unstructured data) as well as for searching in and aggregating business objects (structured data). TREX processes documents in a wide variety of formats and in more than 30 languages.
