SAP Netweaver Support Pack Stack Update procedure

Hello experts, I will need your help with a SAP Netweaver Support Pack Stack Udate.

I have 3 VMware virtual machines with windows server 2102 R2 and Microsoft SQL Server 2014 installed in each box.

The first is a solution manager and its database the second and the third is development and productions systems with their MS SQL databases in each VM embedded.

I need to know how I should begin the Support Pack Stack Upgrade.

I need to start update the solution manager first or the development system and lastly the production?

I know that the process require to run SUM tool generate xml configuration file and proceed with the installation.

Should Netweaver version remain the same or I should upgrade to another;

For example I have Netweaver version 7.3, I should download updates for this version or I must upgrade to 7.4 or 7.5 what is the correct procedure for Support Pack Stack Update.

I will need OSS User for the update;

Do you have any updated tutorial for this procedure?

Thank you

    I think you should firstly update your Solution Manager system and then rest of systems.

    This is a good starting point:

    As there is no information about what the other two systems are it is not really easy to advise you on this. I believe the Solution Manager system is on release 7.2 and unless there is some dependency between the Solution Manager and the other SAP systems, wherein the Solution Manager needs to be on a certain SP and release to patch/upgrade the other SAP systems, there is no need to have the Solution Manager patched first. If the other systems are ERP then you don't upgrade the NetWeaver, instead you need to do an EHP update which will get the NetWeaver version updated as well. Whether you need to upgrade the system to the latest release or do an SP update is something you should discuss with the business.

    • Thank you for your answer’s, the other systems are Development and Production of SAP BW with installed BPC (Business Planning and Consolidation) product that also have MS SQL Servers 12 databases. Are there any special dependencies with Solution Manager ;
