Hello guys,
I am taking the costing run by ck11n, there i have given material number and plant and in costing data tab i have maintained
costing variant - PPC1(Std cost estimate - mat)
costing lot size-1
and in date tab, it is showing all the field in display mode and when i say default it is taking the date of 1 day of next month (01.08.2008).
But i have maintained the fiscal year variant V3 (Aprl to march)in my controlling area. And accn to it my current posting period which is 04, it should propose me the date (01.05.2008) and not (01.07.2008).And when i change the default date to 01.05.2008 because of this it gives me the error that planning date is in the past, cost estimate cannot be saved.Where to maintain setting for it?
Hi Jitendra,
In case of Costing Variant PPC1 ( Std. Cost Estimate) you can't use date in the past.So system is not allowing you to Save the costing run data Because the standard cost estimate serves to calculate future prices, it does not make sense to carry out the costing run with a date in the past.
If you wanna run costing with past date then try other costing variant like:
PPC2 Mod. Std Cost Est. (Mat.)
PPC3 Current Cost Est. (Mat.)
In case of Costing Variant PPC1 ( Std. Cost Estimate) you can just display costing run results only and can't save them.
With above mentioned any of the two costing variant system will allow you to save the results.
Try above and revert if any doubt.
Reward if useful.

Dear Jitendra,
In SPRO settings under controlling ->product Cost Planning-
->Define Costing Variant for PPC1 since the default setting will
be generally made as the first date of next month this
avoids taking costing rollup or run in the current period ,which
means if any user tries to take a costing run, defaultly the
system proposes for the next period(so you are able to see the
first date of next month).
N.B:As Costing run will be carried out only once in a
month and that too it will be on the first day of the month.
So if you execute CK11N or CK40N,you can see the costing
run, quantity structure date & valid from date showing defaultly
as the first date of the next month, but you can overwrite this in
that particular T code itself.
Instead of using CK11N and then using CK24,better use
CK40N so that you do the costing run, marking & relase in the
same T code.
Also
1.If your Costing Run date is some future date ,but the
Costing Date from,Qty Structure Date,Valuation date is on
system's date, then the system will allow to release the cost .
2.If your costing run date is current date & the valuation,Qty
structure date is some future date, then the system will not
allow you to release the cost.
Reward points if useful.

Hi,
Accn to it my current posting period which is 04, it should propose me the date (01.05.2008) and not (01.07.2008).And when i change the default date to 01.05.2008 because of this it gives me the error that planning date is in the past, cost estimate cannot be saved.Where to maintain setting for it?
System proposal is correct. Posting period 04 means, April -01, May - 02, June - 03, July -04.
So proposal of 01.07.08 is correct. In the past date 01.05.08, cost estimate can not be saved.
