I have inserted a calculated member grand total at the bottom of my report. How can I either suppress the group subtotals or exclude them from my calculation (circled in red) ?

You'd have to "suppress" the Embedded Summary fields.
Right-click the Embedded Summary cell > Format Field > Common tab > Suppress.
