HI,

An installed base can be described as a multilevel structure of installed base components for managing objects (for example, devices, machines, software) that are installed, or are going to be installed on site at the customer site. An installed base can represent the reference basis for services.

Installed bases are suitable for storing your customer structures and the service-relevant objects installed at the customer site. Service contracts can be made and service processes created with reference to installed bases or installed base components.

Ib51 is the transaction for creating the ibase.

if the product is service related that will store in IBase tables.

IBIB is the main table for Ibase.

IBINOWN is the table link wiht CRMD_ORDERADM_I and IBIN.

IBIN linked with IBASE.

IBINOWN-OBJKEY = CRMD_ORDERADM_I-GUID

An installed base can be, for example, a kitchen appliance, an elevator in a building or all elevators in the buildings of the firm xy.

An installed base can also include a complex object, for example, an airplane with all service-relevant parts or an airplane that has not yet been constructed, whose parts should be managed as related parts from the planning and construction phase onwards.

1]For Maintaining I Base - do the User has to Create IB51 r else when he Enters Sales Order and Product - Is there autormatically Created ?ata

yes,for maintaining an i-base in a service scenario ,you need to create a i-base for a customer using T-code:1b51

in which ,u will include all the components related to i-base of an customer,

for each component u will maintain details like

warranty, counter data, qualifications data for each individual component.

2. If the Customer comes to you with Complaint with in the Warranty - How the Entry will be Updated Ibase

answer;

generally when a customer buys a product[car],

the company will create a i-base for the customer and all the details like service contracr+warranty etc

will be mentioned in an i-base

so when ever an enduser will create a complaint for this particular customer,he will enter i-base as a reference object in the transaction called complaint under overview data,

the warranty details maintained in i-base ,causes the warranty determination in a transaction called complaint.

for a warranty to be determined in a transaction=compalint u should maintain an warranty ckeck profile .

3. How the Connectivity Between Ibase and Transactions will be ?

answer

the connectivity between ibase and transaction is through reference object what u maintain in the overview tab.

Please Provide you Valid Inputs. Thank you

Hi Mr. Reddy,

I apologise for intervening in the discussion but I have come across a case wherein if I assign warranty in install base then also it is not determining wrrty in SO until I have also assigned the same wrrty to the product in relationship tab.

Any ideas why is it so, is this behaviour standard. As far as I think assignment of wrrty to prod in Ibase should have worked.

Thanx

hi neetika

check the details once again like

warranty date profile-in detail

warranty check profile-in detail

confirm whether u r using i-base as an reference object in transaction.

also check ,warranty product-warranty services types-including and excluding indicators

Here are the answers

1. For Maintaining I Base - do the User has to Create IB51 r else when he Enters Sales Order and Product - Is there automatically Created ?

Yes the Ibase is created automatically depending on the scenario from R/3 or CRM. you have to configure the same, the configuration changes based on the Item category

2. If the Customer comes to you with Complaint with in the Warranty - How the Entry will be Updated Ibase

You need to update the Ibase with warranty infromation to have it determined when creating a complaint,, and when you assign the warranty to Ibase and when you create a complaint , system will automaticallu check the warranty against an Ibase/ Product/Customer you entered in Complaints

3. How the Connectivity Between Ibase and Transactions will be ?

Too general to answer
