Who is logged in currently in Outlooksoft (BPC) v 4.2

Are there any log files in Outlooksoft 4.2 that show who is currently logged or to see the last time each user logged in? In the private publications folder, debuglogic.log shows you the last time a user submitted data, but it doesn't tell you the last time each user logged in to the system, which is what I'm looking for.

Best regards,

Greg

Hi Greg,

There is no out of the box functionality in 4.2 AND 5.1 to see who is online.

In V5 there is an option in admin called 'Who is Online', but this option will only show you who have logged on to Admin and NOT to MS Office. so you can't see the endusers who have logged in (still hoping for some improvement here).

There is however one some kind of workaround to see who have logged in over time:

The IIS log will log all users that have logged in. I imported this file into a SQL table and using some Query statements I could find out who logged in and even to see what connection type they were using (in 4.2 we had something called 'http' users, we used this method to search for these kind of users).

Hope this helps,

Thanks Alwin - Thats helpful. A couple of questions:

- is there a SQL table called IIS Log? If not can you confirm the table name?

- For v5.1 I was under the impression that "who is online" feature in version 5.1 would show you everyone who is currently logged into Outlooksoft (I am not sure what you mean by logged into MS Office - do you mean the end users who have logged into Outlooksoft? If that doesn't work, is there a listing somewhere of the last time/date that each user has logged in?

As Alwin stated the Who is Online function ONLY shows admin users that have/are logged on to the admin councel. In 5.1 there is a file in the Logging\SystemConfigComponent folder that shows the last time a user loged on. I am unaware of a similar log in 4.2.

Example:

7/2/2008 5:23:41 AM|SystemConfigComponent|IsExistLogFile|GK\canton|c:\SystemConfig.Log

Greg,

I have never tried this, but I think you can set the logfile behaviour of the IIS logfiles in Internet Information Services.

This feature is something to look forward to in BPC7M version (BPC7 for Microsoft and NOT in BPC7 for Netweaver). In BPC7M we have Management Console and we will be able to track which user is using which module as well as do some detailed analysis of resources consumed in BPC.

Greg,

There is no iis logfile sql table, it is just a logfile. The IIS logfile is a log file created by IIS. You can find it on the webserver:

Log file directory: C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles

Log file name: W3SVC1\exyymmdd.log

From the posting of Anton I understand that there is a logfile on the server that shows a list of the logged in users. I didn't know that, thanks Anton.

This is then a feature of 5.1 and not present in the 4.2 release.

Alwin, I have located the log files in C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\W3SVC1, however, they are only showing activity of two of my users, and I know that I have many more users accessing the system. It appears perhaps that my logfile is getting truncated. Do you know how the size of these files are determined?
