    Hi,

You need to have a database installed (SQL, Oracle etc). Then You need to install these three component MDM Sever, MDM Import server and MDM Syndication Server. These three are different servers but connected to same database. Now its upto you if you want to install database and these three components on the same system or different. It will work either way.

    Hope this is clear.

    Regards,

    Dheeraj.

    Hi Murali,

The MDM Server is based on a database in which the repositories are stored. When a repository is loaded in the MDM Console, its entire contents are available in the main memory of the MDM Server. MDM Server is not an application on the Web Application Server (Web AS), but rather a standalone application with its own installation.

Nevertheless, the MDM Server and the Web AS can use the same database. The MDM Server can be installed on the following database and operating systems:

    1. Windows 2000 and 2003 Server with Oracle, MS SQL Server, or

    DB2

    2. Linux and Solaris with Oracle.

MDM Import Manager Server, MDM Business Content Server,

MDM Syndication Server are all different servers but they access the same database.

    Hope it will help you.

    Regards

    Richa

      Hi Murali,

Yes, these all are different servers. If you want, you can install these on same machine or on different machines. Yes, you need to maintain different severs for each of development, Quality and Production environments.

      Hope it will help you.
