may I know what's the difference between: 1 routing in 1 group ? several routings in 1 group? will it resulted in different Routing explorsion? shall I simply ?put all routing in 1 group
Hi,
You can create routing in 2 ways.
For each material u can create a separate group or u can combine several materials in one routing group.
Advantage of having one group for several materials is that changing in route impacts all the materials simultaneously.

Hi,
There wont be any difference in routing explosion .
Also decidingnon the routing group depends on the process requirement.

Hi,
Pls find below the extract from SAP Help for your understanding
When you create a routing, you can assign it to a group. You combine routings in a group that describe
Similar production processes for different materials
Different production processes for the same material (for example for various lot-size ranges).
Grouping helps you find routings later.
When you maintain a routing, the system loads all routings belonging to the same group. You are, therefore, advised to combine only small numbers of routings into a group.
If you do not want to group your routings, you can let the system assign a group key when you create a routing. In this case, the system creates a new group for each new routing.

Hi,
Normally system will allocate one group no to one routing. If you add alternative routing, this group is having group counter, it will increase to 2,3,...
If you have same type of routing for different material, you can add in one group number.
It will use for easily identify the material, comparission.

Dharma
