goodmorning gurus:

We have a material called paper tube

they are of 6 sizes of raw materials used to make a paper tube

Will we need BOM for production order to create a finished product stock? or we may not need it? is there a compulsion or it can be done without BOM also?

please suggest me

Yes certainly BOM is required for production people to carry out production and give you a final assembly. Unless you assign BOMs to FERT in CS01, how the stock of respective components will get reduced as and when production entry is made.

if we change the production based on "consumption mode" then?

actualy the paper tube is so complicated very complicated in a finish product they change the material many times and twice the same raw material at times and in variable sizes...thats why they say they dont need BOM

Any suggestions?

Its all about Management's discretion. As I said earlier, unless you maintain BOM, system will not reduce stock and the following queries should be answered

- Are they not going to maintain inward datas. That is as and when components are procured, they need to inward in SAP. If not, what is the alternate method to capture incoming components

- What about inventory tracking

- How the stock of components would be reduced from SAP.

In manufacturing industries, changing BOM is a routine exercise. To my knowledge, what PP people will do is that they will change the routings quite frequently and of course, it will be done only by authorised person from top management.
