try it out in SE38.

constants : pi type p decimals 2 value '3.1'.

write:/ pi .

it will display 3.10.

value of p is 3.10 as decimal is 2.

if value is '3.1234' and decimal is 3 then value is 3.123

This will result 3.10 as variable pi has been declared as packed decimal with 2 decimal places. It means in result 2 numerals will be there after the decimal point.

Even if you declare like..constants : pi type p decimals 2 value '3'.

Again the result will be 3.00.

hi,

some key words are made for permanent changes in SAP.If u define your constants with pi value...it will give numerical value for the same which is nothing but 3.14.

In thwe code,

constants : pi type p decimals 2 value '3.1'.

The value of pi is ' 3.10 ' as it is declared as a decimal with decimal places 2 and it cannot be changed throughtout the program as it is declared as a constant.
