How do I modify a check form and get it to print correctly?

We use Sage 2018 100c accounting software, which uses Crystal Reports 2016 to print all forms. The previous release used Crystal 2011, which was fairly easy to modify; the check forms displayed on the screen as printed, so adding or changing fields and moving them around was intuitive. With 2016, the WYSIWYG format no longer exists, and I've had problems getting my checks to print correctly in the check, stub, stub format; the stubs are either too short and printing part of the bottom stub onto the top stub, or they are too large and the form extends onto the next check. Previewing my forms isn't helpful, as only the text fields print, and only on the top stub. I have wage information in tables that can be of varying length, but I want the fields across the bottom of the stub to always print in the same loca
