Movement Type 701/702 and 561/562

Hi all,

Please tell me that what is the difference between movement type 561 /701 and 562 /702. Our business user 561 and 562 in MBIC for write in and write off. But SAP Best Practice says that movement types 701 and 702 should be used for writein and write off.

Please tell me in steps how to use movement types 701 and 702 and difference with 561 and 562.

Regards,

AI.

    Hi,

As stated, the movement type 701 and 702 are trigged automatically when you are posting the inventory differences.

During the physical inventory say you have 100 PC's of material X as per records, but the physical count for material X is only 99 PCs, then if you want to write off the difference of 1 PC then you need to post the difference in the system and subsequently the difference amount for that material is posted to the respective G/L account maintained in automatic account determination.

First create a Physical inventory document - MI01

Second enter the Inventory count - MI04

Thirdly clear the difference if any - MI07.

In case of write off of the difference will trigger 701 / 702 movement.

    Hope it answers your question.

      Thanks Sunil,

Just tell me the last thing, what is the disadvantage of using 561 and 562 in place of 701 and 702? I know 701 and 702 is in SAP Best practices for write in and write off but what are the disadvantages of using 561 and 562 in place of 701 and 702?

      Best Regards,

      AI.

    Hi,

Movement types 561 is used for the initial entry of the stock. When you are going from legacy to SAP, the initial stock is maintained in the system with 561 movement.

562 is the reversal of 561.

Whereas the movements 701 and 702 are automatic movements. They are triggered only when you want to post the Physical inventory differences.
