    Hi Shalini,

System tables: System tables appear under the Admin node in the

Console Hierarchy and include Roles, Users, Connections, Change

Tracking, Remote Systems, Ports, Links, XML Schemas, and

    Reports, and Logs.

►► When you first create a new MDM repository, MDM

automatically creates the single instance of each system table.

►► The Logs table is MDM Server-specific rather than MDM

repository-specific, and appears in the Console Hierarchy under an

MDM Server node after all of the MDM repository nodes.

There are various types of System Tables :

Roles : A single table named Roles. One of three tables used to implement

MDM repository security and access control. Each role can

selectively grant or deny access to any MDM function and to any

table or field. This table is managed in the MDM Console and is not

    visible in the MDM Client.

Users : A single table named Users. One of three tables used to implement

MDM repository security and access control. Each user can have

one or more roles. This table is managed in the MDM Console and

is not visible in the MDM Client.

Connections : A single table named Connections. One of three tables used to

implement MDM repository security and access control. Contains

an entry for each currently connected MDM client application,

which can be terminated by the MDM Console user. This table is

not visible in the MDM Client.

Change Tracking : A single table named Change Tracking. Allows you to specify the

fields for which adds, modifies, and deletes should be tracked and

stored in the Change Tracking table.

Remote Systems : A single table named Remote Systems. Used to define the different

remote systems for import and export. Each specifies whether it

supports inbound, outbound, or both. This table is managed in the

MDM Console and is not visible in the MDM Client.

Ports : A single table named Ports. Used to encapsulate the logistical and

configuration info for inbound and outbound processing of MDM

data, for consolidation and distribution respectively. This table is

managed in the MDM Console and is not visible in the MDM Client.

Links : A single table named Links. Used to specify the URLs that can be

used as the target of an embedded browser in the Web tab in the

MDM Client. This table is managed in the MDM Console and is not

    visible in the MDM Client.

XML Schema : A single table named XML Schemas. Used to identify the XML

schemas for import and syndication. Each XML schema is the

name of an .xsd file. This table is managed in the MDM Console

and is not visible in the MDM Client.

Reports : A single table named Reports. Contains an entry for each report

file generated by the various MDM repository operations, which

can be accessed and viewed by the MDM Console user. This table

is not visible in the MDM Client.

Logs : A single table named Logs. Contains an entry for the log files

generated by the MDM Server, which can be accessed and viewed

by the MDM Console user. This table is not visible in the MDM

    Client.

    MASK

Mask is a virtual field in MDM that stores Main Table Records. Basically Mask is used for Searching a set of records.

The main purpose of Mask is to slice down the complete repository into number of custom virtual repositories. It helps to create various custom repositories for the same master MDM Repository without duplicating the records in the main table. This guarantees consistency and synchronization of the data across updates, since there is never more than one copy of each main table record.

For Eg : Say you have a set of Products for a Mall , now there are various products that a Mall can sell like : Goggles , Cosmetics , Clothes etc and also of various Brands. Now if you want to know all the Goggles for a particular brand say Ray Ban then you just need to select all the records that gives the description about the Ray Ban goggles and add it to the Mask say u201CRay Banu201D . Now any time you want to check that how many records are there for Ray Ban goggles you can just check it with the help of Mask .

Also note that the values that are there in the Mask will not change with the addition of new records but if you update a record that is already existing in Mask then that record will be updated. If any time a new record is added for Ray Ban then again the user has to manually assign it to the Mask.

    Hope this would be helpful!!!!

    If helpful do reward points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Regards,

    Parul

Mask Table we can use in data manager.

A Mask acts like a stencil,in that it blocks("masks") all main table records from view except the defined subset of records that are included in the mask to allow the subset to be viewed and manipulated as a whole .A mask is a static snapshot of the set of records that are included in the mask(as opposed to a view or named search, where the results set is determined dynamically every time the search is run) Each record in the masks table is the name of a subset of main table records. Mdm Support an unlimited herarchy of masks.

    Shalini,

Click the below link and expand 'Repository Maintenance' node on the left side and 'Other System Tables' node in it, to get details of ports, remote systems and URL Syntax of MDM:

Hope you got fair understanding of these system tables.

    Thanks.

    Hi Shalini,

Remote system table enables us to define remote system from which we are importing the data or remote system to which

we are syndicating the data.Remote system can be Inbound or Outbound or Inbound/Outbound.

If remote system supplies data to MDM then we define it as Inbound type , if it extracts the data from MDM define it as

Outbound type and if it performs both things define it as Inbound/Outbound.

Ports table enables us define ports.Ports acts as logical point of connection between MDM and remote system.

Ports simplifies the process of consolidation of data from remote systems into MDM using import manager and extraction of

data from MDM to remote systems using MDM Syndicator.

Ports can be Inbound or Outbound.Inbound port is for importing the data and Outbound port is for syndicating the data.

There are roles table,User table,Change Tracking table and XML Schemas and reports table comes under system table.

What is mask table in MDM? HOW WE CAN USE IT?

Mask table is a special table in MDM contains subset of records which can be viewed separately by user.

Go to masks table in data manager and define mask with any name under name field.

Then go for main table records and right click on some of the records to add the

records to the mask using Add to mask option. After records are added to mask,

assign the corresponding mask to role in MDM console.

To assign mask to role, click on roles table under you can find tab named tables

and field where it lists all the tables and there is field named constraints where

we can assign mask to role so that whoever user has that role can see and modify

the limited no of records belongs to mask.

    Thanks
