NTW04 can be installed with Oracle 10 ?

I need to clarify if the NTW04 (Basis 640) can be installed directly with Oracle 10g.

From the PAM oracle 10g is supported for NTW04, but from the installation guide is not clear if it's possible or not to install directly with it.

Someone already did it ?

We would like to avoid the Oracle upgrade from Ora 92 to 10g

regards

Hi

It is possible, but we have not used the DVDs that are delivered by SAP. I have downloaded the DVDs from marketplace and done the installation.

Please check these notes for further references.

hi, tnks for the feedback.

I would like to do it on AIX not, on windows.

Futhermore I would like to do an hom sys copy (R3load method) with a source system on ora920, and a target system on Ora10.

In this way the overall procedure is shortened.

Is it possible ?

Hi

I can say that your scenario is also possible.

Please see this as reference.

Note 932722 - Upgrade to Oracle 10.2 during a database copy

But I have to find out for AIX.

up please.

Someone try to do a system copy with R3load on unix using as target DB an Rdbms same as the source (oracle ) but with more higher release (export from 920 import into Ora 102 ) ?

Hi,

I did it.

I used R3load in order to do a heterogeneous system copy of NW04 from Solaris with Oracle 9i into Linux with Oracle 10g.

It is supported because R3load is exporting the DB content into a database independent format, then you can user r3load to import it to any database.

This procedure is shortened, because you actually "skip" the DB upgrade while you importing the DB contents directly into oracle 10g.

At the target machine you need to use the latest "NW04 Master DVD" there you will see that you can choose between Oracle 9i and 10g, just bear in mind that you still need oracle 9 client, because SAP kernel 6.40 is compiled with oracle client 9.

Good luck,

Nahum
